Intereras recently organized an insightful tour to help connect Vietnamese textile and garment companies with the major Chinese manufacturer SUMEC Co. Ltd. As a provider of services that link Vietnamese factory owners and garment businesses with international partners, we wanted to facilitate fruitful relationships between these two thriving textile industries.
SUMEC is an important member company of China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH). Ranking among the top 500 global companies, SUMEC is a key state-owned enterprise and for years, its total import and export volume has consistently ranked first among Jiangsu key enterprises.
SUMEC has demonstrated a commitment to high-quality development, innovation, stability and long-term growth. The company aims to become an organizer and integrator of the global supply chain, working towards building a world-class enterprise centered around innovation and prudence. SUMEC’s mission is to “integrate global resources, create a better future” with the vision of being an “outstanding and lasting international company.”
The tour began with an immersive visit to SUMEC’s museum in their office based in Nanjing . Our Vietnamese guests were able to explore interactive exhibits showcasing SUMEC’s 50-year history starting from its founding in the 1960s through today. These displays as well as their tour guides highlighted SUMEC’s evolution, milestones, and information on their current global operations, technology innovations, and major international brand partnerships. This provided extensive context and thoroughly impressed the visitors.

Next, VIP introductions were arranged between top executives from SUMEC, including the General Manager, Directors of various divisions, and senior leadership team members, with the Vietnamese tour group composed of business owners and top decision-makers. Putting names to faces in these high-level meetings started in-depth conversations and set the tone for potential senior-level collaborations.
To showcase Vietnam’s thriving textile industry, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) gave an extensive presentation. In addition to an overview of the country’s textiles and garment sector, production capacity, trading data as well as the future of this industry in Vietnam. This opened up doors for strategic partnerships between the countries.
The grand finale was a business matching session where SUMEC representatives visited booths for each Vietnamese company. One-on-one meetings allowed tailored conversations about partnerships. The connections made will surely lead to future business partnerships.
Overall, the tour provided a blend of information, introductions, and interactions to strengthen the bond between the textile and garment industries in Vietnam and China. The business matching was an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to partner with large Chinese businesses such as SUMEC. Our existing relationships with world-class companies like SUMEC will grow thanks to such productive trips that foster cooperation. The future looks bright for increased trade and commerce!
